Chapter IV: Tyres

Point 9.2 of the decree of 30 September 1997, which modifies article 9 of the decree of 29 July 1970, defines the minimum legal depth of tread for motorbike tyres:

"9.2. On vehicles other (*) than those covered by point 9.1 above, the depth of the grooves, measured at four equally spaced points around the tyre's circumference must not be less than 1 millimetre at more than one point of the four".

(*) In the sense of article R. 311-1 of the Road Traffic Code, "motorbikes" are classed in the category of vehicles to which point 9.2 above applies.
