The Yokohama BLUEARTH-4S AW21 offers an optimal compromise between the performances of a summer tire and a winter one. The rubber compound is locked with micro-silica. This mixture remains stable both on during the dry heat of summer as well as the low temperatures of winter allowing it to maintain its flexibility to promote grip. Large shoulder blocks provide improved lateral stability on dry roads and improve cornering support. The central circumferential groove associated with the divergent V-grooves contribute to effective drainage of water and snow in all its forms, even melted. Thin through grooves improve the "blade effect" of the tire and offer variable angles that improve braking, traction and lateral stability in snowy conditions. They also improve drainage efficienty. The tread benefits from an optimized arrangement of straight "all season" slats. They increase the "blade effect" on snow covered surfaces and maintain tread rigidity on dry roads. Unlike winter tires, the BluEarth-4S benefits from an extended tread that improves performance on dry roads.
