The Michelin Pilot Sport 3, the third in the Pilot Sport series, is a performance summer tyre, ideal for sports vehicles and high performance saloons. The tyre has an optimised profile with “Anti-Surf System”, which allows it to slice through extremely wet surfaces and standing water. The tyre retains some of the characteristics of the asymmetric tread pattern of its predecessor, with slight changes in the sipe pattern. According to a test conducted by TÜV, the Michelin Pilot Sport 3 has better grip on bends, and a shorter braking distance on wet roads than the Pilot Sport 2. The “Green X” marking on the sidewall of the tyre indicates its energy efficiency, highlighting Michelin's commitment to reducing CO2 emissions and fuel consumption. As a result of experience gained from 13 consecutive successes in the Le Mans 24 Hour Race, Michelin has also introduced the “Green Power Compound”, a revolutionary rubber compound that gives the Michelin Pilot Sport 3 its excellent grip, fuel efficiency and longevity.

      FORD FOCUS
Running them on a 163bhp Focus, they are brilliant on dry and wet roads, spinning to a minimum when using loads of torque in tight corners. Terrible as soon as the temperature drops around 6ºC, when the compound doesn't cope with the torque from 1st to 3rd gear even on a straight line. As a performance summer tire they are probably the best ones you can buy, but expensive. Getting to the legal limit after 30.000 KM / 20.000 Miles on a spirit driving. Fuel economy is also surprisingly good, with the natural road noise you can expect from a 235/40 ZR18 size tire. Definitely recommended.
Would I buy the same tyres: Probably

A great handling tyre, the best you can buy for most conditions (except snow and ice where they are terrible!). Highly recommend for the sporty driver - better than any other brand I have experienced and that is most.

Happy with Pilot Sport 3, but wear out in only 5 years with little driving mileage, so a bit disappointed with durability. Data of Pilot Sport 4 seems better, so plan to buy Pilot Sport 4 for replacement.
