Goodyear: find the right profile for your car

Goodyear covers different tyre needs, from everyday journeys to more specialised vehicles. This page places the available references in context so that you can choose by car, season and driving pattern.

Since 2001, Pneus Online UK has helped drivers compare more than a brand name: full size, load, speed, label, stock, lead time and fitting option.

Rank your priorities: wet braking, comfort, mileage, winter ability, load or price. This avoids comparing Goodyear tyres built for different jobs.

What should you know before choosing Goodyear?

Goodyear is a brand with roots in the United States, with a history dating back to 1898. The exact reference still matters: the strengths of one profile should not be applied to the entire brand.

Within Goodyear, EfficientGrip favours mileage, Eagle F1 performance, Vector year-round use, UltraGrip winter conditions and Cargo versions professional duty. This is a useful first filter, but generation, ratings, OE markings and local availability remain decisive.

From daily driving to specialist use: Goodyear profiles

The table is a starting point. Always confirm the full size, ratings and vehicle-specific markings.

Profile Season Priority Recommended use
Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance 2 Summer mileage and balance daily and motorway driving
Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 Summer road performance powerful cars and dynamic use
Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 All-season year-round versatility moderate climates
Goodyear UltraGrip Performance 3 Winter winter control cold, wet and snowy roads
Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport Summer high performance very powerful road cars
Goodyear EfficientGrip 2 SUV Summer SUV mileage road SUVs and crossovers
Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Cargo All-season commercial continuity vans used all year
Goodyear EfficientGrip Cargo 2 Summer commercial durability high-mileage vans

Goodyear technologies and names: what they change

Names such as SoundComfort, SealTech, RunOnFlat, EV Ready are not a universal guarantee. They describe a technology, construction or adaptation available on selected references. Check the intended benefit, vehicle compatibility and any fitting or repair implications.

The tyre is exceptional in areas that are important to me i.e. performance in winter slush including very good aquaplaning resistance, very good breaking on wet and dry. I am indifferent to noise and fuel consumption but I found them comparable to other tyres I used. The tyre handles decently on snow although if I were living in an area where there is abundance of snow I would not chose this one. Chosen for 80% of city driving in snow/slush/wet/dry conditions. The critical factor is that the positives apply to longitudinal performance of the tyre (without curves and turns). What I find unacceptable is latitudinal performance (during breaking, dynamic turns etc). Here the tyre perfroms substandard BUT I have to admit that tyres such as Pirelli Ice & Snow or Dunlop Wintersport 3D or 4D performed far weaker. So until I do find a better tyre I will stick to this one being aware that driving straight ahead is exemplary while slowing down considerably when turning the steering wheel.
Would I buy the same tyres: Probably

Much worse than their prdecessor especially in terms of lateral grip. I don't care if tires are noisy and not fuel efficient but these tyres are noisy and fuel inefficient. Fabulous performance when driving straight both on dry, wet and snow. Very good aquaplanning resistance. Solid traction on snow. Very very weak lateral performance and dynamic on curves when wet or on snow. Much worse than prdecessor to the extend that after driving ca 10000km for the first time i switched to a none Dunlop and Goodyear brand -and am happy

This is an additional review to the one I provided for Volvo XC90 by falcon. I confirm that they are fabulous under all conditions when driving (both acceleration and braking) when driving straight. However their very poor latitude performance (in curves) has led me to change tires mid season to a different brand. I have to add that this was not easy as i have been a fan of Goodyear (and years back also Dunlop Wintersport M2/M3) tyres for years. Given the substantial deteroriation of performance of this tyre compared to GY SUV i will not consider returning to the brand. In addition to some other reviews writing that this is an all season tyre is ridiculous unless you live on the North Pole. This is a winter tyre with winter performance which falls rapidly above 7 degrees Centigrade - braking, wear, noise.
Would I buy the same tyres: Absolutely not
